Is getting the house organised one of your New Year’s resolutions?
There’s no time like the present to reset and give your home a deep clean!
It might seem like a mammoth task, so we’d recommend completing one room per week. Here are some tips for getting started on those key areas:
Discard old cleaning products
Completing a stocktake of your household cleaning products is an often-overlooked part of the whole process. These can accumulate over years, so it’s important make sure you’re still using products that work, while decluttering at the same time. Check the use by dates and discard any cleaning agents that have expired.
Store all remaining cleaning products in our handy Modular Containers. Coming in a variety of stackable and functional sizes, this storage solution will compliment any style of room with sleek, neutral tones.
Avoid contamination and minimise waste by assigning washable, colour-coded microfibre cloths to each room, like pink for the kitchen and green for the bathroom.
Store your sprays, detergents and oven cleaners in a Modular Container under the sink. Pair with a pink microfibre cloth for tackling greasy kitchen areas.
Go through your fridge, freezer and pantry, discarding any unwanted goods. Take out all other items shelf by shelf and wipe everything thoroughly. Distribute your significant kitchen items, such as condiments, cling wraps/foils and perishable objects into a series of Modular Containers.
Clean the inside and outside of your microwave and oven. Spray and wipe your benches, cabinets, stove top and splashbacks.
Start by removing the contents of all drawers and cupboards, discarding any empty bottles or trash. Wipe out and rearrange your bathroom essentials. Our Insert Trays can help with dividing your items into smaller compartments, to neatly store things like toothbrushes, skincare, razors and makeup.
Take everything out of the shower and use a cleaning agent to scrub the floors, walls and glass. Don’t forget to remove the cover of your ceiling fan and give it a soak. This will get rid of excess dust and prevent mould from forming.
Shine up the bathroom mirror with a dry paper towel and glass cleaner. Sweep and mop the floors. Finally, give your toilet a deep clean by soaking the inside with bleach and using a surface cleaner to wipe down the external surface.
Using one of our stylish Modular Containers, store your laundry detergent, fabric softeners and a yellow microfibre cloth, neatly keeping everything in one place. This can be displayed out on the laundry bench or stored away in a cupboard.
Spray and wipe down your benches and the exterior of your washer and dryer. Remove the filters and soak in warm, soapy water for 10 minutes.
Laundries are great storage rooms for spare linens and towels. Remove existing items from the cupboards so you can spray and wipe the shelves, then reorganise the contents, repacking everything into Modular Containers, so that your linen and towels are organised and protected from dust.
Outdoor and Pool
When sprucing up outdoor areas, larger tools such as pressure hoses, mulch and buckets are required. The ideal location for storing these bulky items is in an outdoor shed or garage. This being the case, you want a sturdy storage solution to keep your items safe from the elements.
Our Heavy Duty Containers range from 27L to 100L, designed with durability in mind, they come in a variety of shapes and sizes, as well as a padlock socket for added security.
For your smaller items, such as seeds, nails and tools, the Heavy Duty Insert Tray is perfect. Whereas our Heavy Duty Dividers allow for easy separation of contents, providing quick and easy access to your belongings.
